From 2005 comes the film adaption of the popular Broadway musical from 1996. Several of the Broadway cast members were used the film version which depicts the lives of a group of bohemians from the East Village in New York City as they struggle with sex, drugs, paying rent and life under the shadow of AIDS.

While there are some differences between the film and stage productions, the soundtrack remained consistent.
